Gut protection drug trial for transplant patients falls through

NCT ID NCT06598332

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study was designed to see if adding a drug called 5-azacytidine (AZA) to standard steroid treatment could help protect the gut in people with graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after a stem cell transplant. GVHD occurs when donor cells attack the patient's body, and gut involvement can cause lasting damage. The study was withdrawn before enrolling any participants, so no results are available.
