First seen Apr 14, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looked at air quality inside airplane cabins during smoke, fume, or odor events and how those events might affect the brain health of flight crew members. Researchers tested 357 crew members using memory, attention, and touch tests after flights with and without fume events. The goal was to see if chemicals from engine oil could cause short- or long-term neurological symptoms.
