New hope for liver transplant patients with severe low platelets
NCT ID NCT07600905
First seen May 24, 2026 ยท Last updated May 24, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether a pill called avatrombopag can safely help liver transplant patients whose platelets drop dangerously low after surgery. Researchers compared 67 patients who got the drug with 67 similar patients who received standard care. The drug group had a faster rise in platelet counts, suggesting it may reduce bleeding risk, but patients still need ongoing monitoring and are not cured.
