First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether using a special imaging technique called autofluorescence during thyroid cancer surgery can lower the risk of hypoparathyroidism, a condition where the parathyroid glands stop working properly. The trial will involve 160 adults who are scheduled for total or completion thyroidectomy. Half of the surgeries will use the autofluorescence light to help surgeons identify and protect the parathyroid glands, while the other half will use standard techniques.
