Scientists probe why some people get much sicker from common viruses
NCT ID NCT05536219
Summary
This study aims to understand why some people develop severe cases of flu, RSV, or COVID-19 requiring intensive care. Researchers are investigating whether certain antibodies that block a key part of the immune system (interferons) lead to higher virus levels and slower recovery. They will measure virus levels in 360 adult and child patients in the hospital to see if these antibodies are linked to worse outcomes.
