Smart oxygen device aims to protect lungs during hospital recovery
NCT ID NCT04136717
Summary
This study is testing a device called FreeO2 that automatically adjusts oxygen levels for patients in the hospital. It is being used with patients who have a severe COPD flare-up or who are recovering from weight-loss surgery. The goal is to see if the device can keep patients' oxygen in a safe range more consistently than manual adjustments, which may help avoid low oxygen or giving too much oxygen.
