New approach eases hospital needle fears for autism patients

NCT ID NCT06712784

Summary

This study is testing whether special behavioral strategies can help autistic patients who get very upset during needle procedures like blood draws or shots. Researchers at Boston Medical Center will work with about 10 autistic patients and their caregivers to see if these techniques reduce distress and help patients cooperate better. The goal is to make necessary medical visits less frightening and more manageable for this group.
