First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding ear acupuncture (tiny needles taped to the ear) to standard care and nerve stimulation could help people with severe brain injury regain consciousness. Sixty patients with traumatic brain injury or brain bleed were split into two groups. Both got usual treatment plus nerve stimulation; one group also got ear acupuncture. Researchers tracked awakening rates and family satisfaction over 8 weeks.
