Virtual reality prepares med students for real spinal taps

NCT ID NCT05269238

Summary

This study tested whether training medical students with a new augmented reality simulator improves their success rate when performing their first real lumbar puncture (spinal tap) on a patient. Sixty patients requiring the procedure as part of their care participated. Researchers compared the success of students trained on the simulator, which provides realistic touch feedback, against students who received standard training.
