New study offers hope for teens with HIV: injections and peer support
NCT ID NCT06721078
First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looks at whether peer support and long-acting injectable HIV medication can help teenagers in South Africa keep the virus under control and stay in care. About 720 teens aged 12-19 who already take HIV pills will either get peer support or switch to monthly injections. The goal is to see if these approaches improve viral suppression and clinic attendance over 18 months.
