Simple monthly ECG could prevent strokes in seniors

NCT ID NCT07438054

First seen Mar 01, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study is testing whether monthly heart rhythm checks (ECGs) at local family health centers can find undiagnosed atrial fibrillation in adults aged 65 and older. About 1000 participants in Ordu, Turkey, will get a quick, painless ECG every month for a year. If a new irregular heartbeat is found, doctors will start blood thinners to reduce stroke risk. The goal is to see how well this screening works in a real-world primary care setting.
