New heart procedure trial tests advanced technology to control dangerous irregular heartbeat

NCT ID NCT06747091

Summary

This study is testing three different approaches to catheter ablation, a procedure that uses energy to create small scars in heart tissue, to control persistent atrial fibrillation (AFib). Researchers are comparing how well each method prevents the return of irregular heart rhythms over one year using a new catheter that can switch between two types of energy. The trial will enroll 60 adults with symptomatic persistent AFib who haven't had previous left heart procedures.
