Heart rhythm breakthrough? study tests extra ablation to stop AFib

NCT ID NCT07197931

Summary

This study aims to find out if a more extensive heart ablation procedure works better than the standard one for people with persistent atrial fibrillation (AFib). It will involve 406 adults whose AFib hasn't responded well to medication and who are getting their first ablation. Researchers will compare the standard procedure, which isolates the pulmonary veins, to a more thorough approach that also targets other potential triggers in the heart.
