New heart procedure tested to stop dangerous irregular heartbeats
NCT ID NCT06364215
Summary
This study tested whether adding an extra step to a standard heart procedure works better for people with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (episodes of irregular heartbeat). Researchers compared two approaches: the standard pulmonary vein isolation procedure alone versus that same procedure plus additional treatment to the back wall of the heart's left atrium. Both methods used a newer technology called pulsed-field ablation. The goal was to see which approach better prevents future irregular heart rhythms while maintaining safety.
