Heart rhythm study tests better way to stop persistent AFib

NCT ID NCT05921734

Summary

This study tested two different approaches for a heart procedure called catheter ablation in people with persistent atrial fibrillation (AFib). It compared stopping the procedure when the irregular heartbeat itself stopped versus completing a standard set of ablations and then using an electric shock to restore normal rhythm. The goal was to see which method was better at keeping patients free from AFib for a year after the single procedure.
