New drug combo tested to shrink breast tumors before surgery

NCT ID NCT04113863

Summary

This study tested whether adding a drug called ATRA to standard hormone therapy (anastrozole) could better shrink early-stage breast tumors before surgery. It involved 76 postmenopausal women with a specific type of breast cancer (HR-positive/HER2-negative). The goal was to see if the combination treatment was more effective at stopping cancer cell growth during the 4-week period before their scheduled operation.
