Could a Non-Stimulant drug ease ADHD-Like symptoms in autism?

NCT ID NCT00498173

Summary

This study tested whether the medication atomoxetine (Strattera®) could safely reduce symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity in children and teenagers with autism. Sixty participants with autism and significant ADHD-like symptoms were randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a placebo for 8 weeks. The goal was to see if this non-stimulant medication, already used for ADHD, could help manage these challenging symptoms in autistic individuals.
