Scientists probe hidden link between athlete diet, brain chemistry, and exhaustion

NCT ID NCT06683625

Summary

This study aimed to understand how not eating enough to fuel intense training affects elite athletes' bodies and minds. Researchers measured stress hormones, brain chemicals, mood, and performance in 27 members of the Polish national rowing team before and after a hard workout. The goal was to find clues that could help coaches prevent burnout and optimize training by monitoring athletes' energy balance and recovery.
