First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tested whether a new asymmetrical high-flow nasal cannula reduces breathing effort compared to the standard version in 40 adults with acute respiratory failure. Participants received both types at different flow rates in random order. The main goal was to measure diaphragm and chest muscle activity using ultrasound, along with breathing patterns and oxygen levels.
