NCT ID NCT05381155

First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tested a simple, one-time treatment for new mothers suffering from intrusive traumatic memories after childbirth. 120 women who had given birth at least 6 weeks earlier and reported frequent traumatic memories were randomly assigned to either receive the treatment right away or wait. The treatment involved briefly recalling the traumatic memory and then playing the computer game Tetris. The goal was to see if this could reduce the number of intrusive memories and other post-traumatic stress symptoms. Results could offer a low-cost, accessible way to ease distress after a difficult birth.
