New asthma study tests smarter inhaler use and antibiotic strategy

NCT ID NCT07052942

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests two approaches to reduce asthma attacks: using inhaled steroids as a rescue treatment (called R-ICS) and taking the antibiotic azithromycin to prevent attacks. About 3,200 people with asthma aged 13-75 will try one or both methods. The goal is to find which strategy works best in everyday primary care settings.
