ER asthma study tests which drug keeps kids out of hospital

NCT ID NCT00585039

Summary

This study compared two similar asthma medications (racemic albuterol and levalbuterol) in children ages 6-17 who came to the emergency room with moderate to severe asthma attacks. Researchers wanted to see which medication better improved children's breathing and reduced their need for hospital admission. The study also checked if blood levels of the medication were related to how well children responded to treatment.
