First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether astaxanthin, a natural antioxidant found in algae and seafood, can improve lung function and reduce airway inflammation in adults with mild-to-moderate asthma. Twenty-five participants will take both astaxanthin and a placebo in random order, each for 4 weeks, while researchers measure breathing, asthma control, and personal air pollution exposure. The goal is to see if this supplement can help manage asthma, especially in polluted environments.
