Hope for a rare cancer: trial tests two new pill options

NCT ID NCT01391962

Summary

This study tested two oral drugs, sunitinib and cediranib, to see if they could control a rare and aggressive cancer called metastatic alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS). The trial involved 34 patients whose cancer had spread and was getting worse, and who had not tried this type of drug before. Patients started on one drug and could switch to the other if their cancer progressed, to see which treatment worked better at shrinking tumors and delaying cancer growth.
