Hospital air and nose swabs track deadly mold threat to vulnerable patients

NCT ID NCT07440485

Summary

This study aims to understand how a common mold called Aspergillus spreads in hospital wards and infects patients with weakened immune systems. Researchers will test the air and take nose swabs from about 200 adults admitted to a hematology ward to see if mold levels in the environment link to infections. The goal is to gather knowledge to help prevent these serious infections in the future, not to test a new treatment.
