Herbal hope: ashwagandha trial targets minority stress in LGBTQ+ adults

NCT ID NCT07441070

First seen Mar 03, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether a natural herb called ashwagandha can help reduce stress, anxiety, and sleep problems in LGBTQ+ adults who face extra stress due to stigma or discrimination. About 80 adults aged 18-45 will take either ashwagandha capsules or a placebo for 8 weeks, and researchers will measure changes in stress levels, mood, and sleep quality. The goal is to find a safe, non-drug option to support mental well-being in this community.
