First seen May 16, 2026 ยท Last updated May 16, 2026
Summary
This study tested a program where mothers and their children with intellectual disability (ages 6-12) did expressive arts activities together, like drawing and music, to improve their relationship and well-being. 157 mother-child pairs took part, with half receiving the art program and half continuing usual care. The goal was to see if the arts could reduce parenting stress and burnout, and improve mood and communication, without needing medication.
