First seen Nov 15, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether empagliflozin, a drug used for diabetes, can improve artery stiffness in 50 veterans with obesity but without diabetes. Participants will take either the drug or a placebo for 12 weeks, and researchers will measure changes in arterial health using a non-invasive test. The goal is to see if this treatment can reduce cardiovascular risk in this population.
