CT score may predict dangerous leaks after colon surgery

NCT ID NCT04002921

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 02, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a simple score based on artery calcification seen on a CT scan can predict a serious complication called anastomotic leakage after right colon removal. Researchers will check the CT scans of 615 adults scheduled for surgery and see if a higher calcification score is linked to more leaks. The goal is to find at-risk patients before surgery so doctors can take extra precautions.
