Double radiation attack aims to stop prostate cancer bone breaks
NCT ID NCT07354594
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests whether adding precise external beam radiation to standard radioligand therapy can better control metastatic prostate cancer that no longer responds to hormone therapy. About 120 participants will receive either standard treatment alone or combined with targeted radiation to under-treated tumors. The main goal is to reduce bone complications like fractures or spinal cord compression.

- Active substance
- Lutetium-177 PSMA radioligand therapy plus external beam radiotherapy
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could offer a more personalized, effective way to control metastatic prostate cancer and reduce painful bone events.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase trial (120 people) testing a new combination. It may not improve outcomes or could increase side effects. Results may not apply to all patients.
