Sniff away the fear: aromatherapy may soothe kids at the dentist
NCT ID NCT07367594
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study will test if smelling lavender or bitter orange essential oils can help children aged 6-12 feel less anxious and experience less pain when getting a numbing shot at the dentist. About 26 kids will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: lavender scent, bitter orange scent, or a placebo (empty inhaler). The goal is to see if these natural scents are a safe, drug-free way to make dental visits easier for children.
