New drug could improve breast cancer treatment before surgery

NCT ID NCT05900206

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study compares a new drug, trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd), with standard treatment given before surgery for HER2-positive breast cancer that has not spread. About 370 adults will receive either T-DXd or standard therapy for three cycles, then further treatment is chosen based on the tumor's molecular type. The goal is to see if T-DXd leads to more complete tumor disappearance at surgery and to find markers that predict which treatment works best.
