New breathing machine method tested for critical lung failure

NCT ID NCT07231107

Summary

This study compared two different settings on breathing machines for patients with severe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), a life-threatening lung condition. It involved 90 adult patients on ventilators to see if a newer method (APRV) was better than a standard one (PRVC) at safely opening up collapsed parts of the lung. Researchers used lung ultrasounds and oxygen level measurements to check which method improved lung aeration and breathing more effectively.
