Experimental hepatitis b drug shows promise in lowering virus levels

NCT ID NCT02604212

First seen Jan 15, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tested an experimental drug called ARC-520 in 32 adults with chronic hepatitis B who were already taking standard antiviral medications. Participants received either ARC-520 or a placebo added to their usual treatment. The goal was to see if ARC-520 could further reduce hepatitis B surface antigen levels, a key marker of the virus. The trial was terminated early, so results are limited.
