New combo therapy may shield diabetic kidneys from damage

NCT ID NCT07586371

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding an SGLT2 inhibitor to standard ARB therapy better reduces protein in the urine (a sign of kidney damage) in diabetic patients without high blood pressure. Sixty adults aged 30-60 with diabetes and microalbuminuria will receive either ARBs alone or ARBs plus an SGLT2 inhibitor. The goal is to see which approach more effectively lowers proteinuria and slows kidney disease progression.
