Cash for clean tests: app tries to beat opioid addiction with rewards

NCT ID NCT05180669

Summary

This study tested whether a smartphone app that gives rewards could help people start and stay on medication treatment for opioid addiction after a hospital visit. The app, called OARSCM, provided rewards for actions like scheduling appointments and having drug-free urine tests. The goal was to see if this approach helped people begin treatment and stay abstinent from opioids over six months.
