Your phone as your physical therapist? study tests app for joint surgery recovery
NCT ID NCT03737149
Summary
This study tested whether a smartphone app and smartwatch could be a good alternative to standard in-person physical therapy for people recovering from hip or knee replacement surgery. Over 6,500 participants were enrolled to see if the app-guided exercises and activity tracking led to similar or better recovery outcomes, like fewer hospital readmissions and better joint function. The goal was to see if technology could make recovery more convenient without sacrificing quality.
