Phone app aims to stop teen surgery pain from becoming chronic
NCT ID NCT04637802
Summary
This study tested whether a smartphone-based support program could prevent short-term pain after major spine surgery from turning into long-term chronic pain in teenagers. Researchers compared the app, called SurgeryPal, against standard education materials in 433 teens aged 12-18. The goal was to see if psychological support delivered before and after surgery could improve recovery and reduce the need for pain medications.
