VA tests app to break Veterans' dependence on anxiety meds
NCT ID NCT04572750
Summary
This study tested whether a smartphone app could help Veterans safely reduce or stop taking benzodiazepine medications (like Xanax or Ativan) after long-term use. Researchers adapted a proven paper-based self-help program into a digital tool for 170 Veterans who had been taking these medications for at least three months. The goal was to see if the app could help people taper off the drugs and improve their overall health and sleep.
