VA tests digital tool to help veterans break free from risky anxiety meds
NCT ID NCT04572750
Summary
This study tested whether a smartphone app could help Veterans safely reduce or stop long-term use of benzodiazepine medications like Xanax or Ativan. Researchers adapted a proven paper-based self-help program into a digital format tailored for Veterans. In the trial, 170 Veterans who had been taking these medications for at least three months used the app to see if it helped them taper off their dose and improve their quality of life.
