Gentle vibrations may replace pokes for preemie breathing pauses
NCT ID NCT03651648
First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tested a new device that uses gentle vibrations to treat apnea (breathing pauses) in premature babies. The goal was to see if it could reduce the total time babies spend in apnea-bradycardia events compared to no stimulation. Fourteen premature infants on caffeine therapy participated. The approach offers a potentially gentler alternative to manual stimulation by caregivers.
