Radiation showdown for breast cancer halted early

NCT ID NCT00802711

First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study aimed to compare two types of radiation therapy given after breast-conserving surgery for early-stage breast cancer: 3D conformal radiation therapy and internal radiation (brachytherapy). The goal was to see which method better kills remaining cancer cells while sparing healthy tissue. However, the trial was stopped early after enrolling only 6 participants, so no firm conclusions can be drawn.
