Prostate drug tested in bladder cancer: does it hit the right target?

NCT ID NCT05521698

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether a drug called apalutamide, which is used for prostate cancer, affects a specific protein (EGFR) in bladder cancer cells. Researchers want to see if blocking male hormones influences this protein, which is linked to cancer progression. The study will involve 80 men with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer, who will take either the drug or a placebo pill for about 3 weeks before standard surgery.
