Scientists test aorta strength to predict deadly ruptures

Summary
This study aims to better understand why some weakened aortas (aortic aneurysms) are more likely to tear or burst. Researchers will compare the physical strength of aortic tissue from 250 patients having heart surgery for an aneurysm to tissue from patients without aortic disease. The goal is to link tissue strength measurements to patient characteristics to improve future risk assessment.
