Doctors test aortic tissue to rebuild damaged windpipes

NCT ID NCT06935110

Summary

This study is testing whether preserved tissue from a donor's aorta (the body's main artery) can be used as a patch to repair serious damage or defects in the windpipe (trachea) or bronchial tubes. It will involve 10 patients with severe airway problems from birth defects, injuries, tumors, or scarring. The main goal is to see if this surgical approach is feasible and safe, measuring outcomes like survival and complications over 90 days.
