First-in-Human trial tests 'Shape Memory' implant to tame deadly aortic tears

NCT ID NCT06740721

Summary

This first-in-human study aims to test the safety and feasibility of a new 'shape memory' polymer implant. The implant is designed to be placed inside the false channel of a torn aorta to block blood flow and prevent it from dangerously expanding. The study will enroll 15 adults with specific types of aortic dissection who have not had prior treatment to this channel.
