Heart surgeons test which aortic repair saves more lives

NCT ID NCT03885635

Summary

This study compares two different surgical techniques for repairing a life-threatening tear in the body's main artery (aortic dissection). Patients undergoing emergency surgery are randomly assigned to receive either the standard 'hemiarch' repair or a more extensive 'extended arch' repair. Researchers will track patients for three years to see which approach leads to better survival rates and fewer follow-up operations.
