Scientists hunt genetic clues to predict deadly heart bulges

NCT ID NCT01194362

Summary

This study aimed to understand why some people with a specific heart valve condition develop dangerous bulges in their main artery, called aortic aneurysms. Researchers collected blood and tissue samples from 91 adults who were having heart valve surgery. By analyzing the genetic material, they hoped to find patterns that could one day help doctors predict which patients are most at risk.
