Pill before eye surgery: can it calm nerves and ease pain?
NCT ID NCT06826417
Summary
This study is testing if giving an anxiety pill (Xanax) before cataract surgery improves the patient's experience. Researchers will give 400 patients either the pill or a placebo (a dummy pill) before their routine surgery to see if it reduces their anxiety and pain during the procedure. The goal is to find a simple way to make this common surgery more comfortable for patients who feel nervous.
