Heart surgery patients may benefit from extra blood thinner, new study suggests

NCT ID NCT05782270

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at people who had heart bypass surgery along with a procedure to clean out a blocked coronary artery. After surgery, patients are at higher risk of blood clots that can clog the new grafts. The study compares two approaches: standard dual antiplatelet therapy alone versus adding warfarin, a stronger blood thinner. About 202 adults will be followed to see which strategy keeps grafts open longer and reduces heart attacks, strokes, or bleeding events.
